"title": "Catalent Deploys AI-Powered Quality Management, Qai, Across Global CDMO Network Using Microsoft Azure",
"content": "Catalent, the Somerset, New Jersey-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has officially deployed Qai, its first enterprise AI quality-management platform, across its global network of more than 50 development and manufacturing sites. The rollout, completed in June 2026, leverages a powerful blend of Microsoft Azure AI technologies, including Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI Foundry, to deliver real-time quality insights, root cause analysis, and predictive analytics for pharmaceutical production.

The move represents one of the largest implementations of AI-driven quality management in the pharmaceutical sector and underscores the industry’s accelerating shift toward digital, data-driven compliance under increasingly strict regulatory scrutiny.

What is Qai?

Qai—short for “Quality Artificial Intelligence”—is an enterprise-grade AI system engineered specifically for the complexities of pharmaceutical quality assurance. Unlike traditional quality management systems (QMS) that rely on manual logging, retrospective analysis, and reactive investigations, Qai ingests structured and unstructured data from across the manufacturing lifecycle. This includes batch records, laboratory test results, environmental monitoring logs, equipment performance metrics, and even free-text notes from quality deviation reports.

The platform applies advanced natural language processing and machine learning to detect subtle patterns, flag anomalies, and—most critically—conduct root cause analysis in
