The latest reporting, originating from Taiwan-based BenchLife and Chinese board-channel sources cited by Gizmodo on July 31, describes a component-cost adjustment rather than a classic MSRP change. Nvidia sells its GPUs pre-bundled with video memory to partner manufacturers. If the price of that bundle rises, the board makers face higher input costs without any negotiation power. They can absorb some of the increase temporarily, but a sustained hike almost always trickles down to retail once current stock sells through.
