Samsung on July 21 opened a beta for Health Assistant, an AI-powered conversational feature built directly into Samsung Health that interprets data from your Galaxy devices. The assistant analyzes sleep, activity, nutrition, mindfulness, and vital signs to deliver personalized wellness guidance, not medical diagnoses. Eligible U.S. users can now ask the app questions and get explanations based on patterns found in their own health history.

Conversational AI Lands Inside Samsung Health

The beta brings a chat-like interface into the Samsung Health app, where users can ask open-ended questions about their wellness. Powered by a knowledge base that Samsung says has been reviewed by physicians and certified health coaches, Health Assistant aims to provide evidence-aware answers that connect the dots between different health metrics.

It works by tapping into data from Samsung’s five health pillars: sleep, activity, nutrition, mindfulness, and vitals. If you’ve been wearing a Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring, it already has access to your resting heart rate, sleep stages, activity streaks, and more. The assistant uses that information to explain why your Energy Score—a daily readiness metric—fluctuates, or why poor sleep might be dragging down your exercise performance.

Samsung stresses that the assistant is a wellness service, not a medical tool. It does not diagnose conditions or recommend treatments. A disclaimer makes this clear, but Samsung will need to ensure the conversational tone doesn’t inadvertently sound more authoritative than it should.

For the average Samsung Health user, the biggest change is accessibility. Until now, most health data was trapped in graphs and cards that required some literacy to interpret. Health Assistant lets you ask “Why is my Energy Score lower today?” and receive a summary that connects last night’s late bedtime, an elevated sleeping heart rate, and skipped morning exercise.
