Microsoft has confirmed that Copilot in Teams will soon be able to understand and answer questions about whatever you share on your screen during meetings, with a rollout currently scheduled for August 2026. But for IT administrators, the clock is already ticking: the feature turns every live dashboard, accidental notification pop-up, and external app into a potential compliance record that Copilot might summarize and retain. This is less a product announcement than a governance wake-up call.

Today, Copilot in Teams works with chat history, meeting transcripts, and shared files. It cannot see your live PowerPoint, your browser tabs, or the application you are demonstrating.
