A high-severity path traversal vulnerability in Rockwell Automation’s ThinManager platform received patches on July 14, with the advisory republished by CISA on July 21. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-11917, allows an authenticated attacker to write files to restricted system directories outside the application’s intended location, potentially disrupting critical industrial access services.

How the vulnerability works

CVE-2026-11917 is a classic path traversal flaw — CWE-22 — in ThinManager’s API file-save handling. Insufficient validation means a file-save request can escape the expected folder and land anywhere the underlying service account has write permissions.
