HoYoverse is bringing its hit free-to-play action RPG Zenless Zone Zero to the Microsoft Store on Windows on July 29, 2026. The launch coincides with the Version 3.1 update, “The Long Goodbye,” and the game’s second anniversary, giving players another official PC storefront alongside full Xbox Play Anywhere support—and a free limited S-Rank agent just for logging in.
What’s Actually Changing on July 29
Zenless Zone Zero isn’t new to PC. It’s been available on Windows since launch via HoYoverse’s own launcher, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The July 29 release adds the Microsoft Store version, which ties directly into the Xbox ecosystem on Windows.
That means you’ll be able to download and launch the game through the Xbox app on Windows 10 or 11, earn Xbox achievements, and pick up where you left off on an Xbox Series X|S console via Xbox Play Anywhere. Cloud saves and cross-progression are baked in: you sign in with the same HoYoverse account you use on other platforms, and your characters, items, and progress carry over immediately.
This isn’t a delayed port. The Version 3.1 update goes live simultaneously across all platforms—PC, console, cloud, and mobile—on July 29. Microsoft Store players step into the latest content day one, not a catch-up build.
Also landing that day is the Version 3.1 content package:
- New S-Rank Agents: Remielle Dan, the game’s first Lumiflux-attribute Agent, an Anomaly character whose damage type shifts to match the next character you swap to—making team rotation more flexible. Sigrid, an Ice Attack Agent, rounds out the banner.
- Permanent Mode: “Enigma of the Labyrinth: Operation Bagel,” a timed expedition and loot-extraction activity with station upgrades.
- Quality-of-life improvements: A Custom Search option in the gacha system lets you pin preferred S-Rank Agents for rate-up targeting; Inter-Knot levels 20–50 now progress faster; and new-player guidance has been reworked.
- Anniversary rewards: Choose one of five limited S-Rank Agents—Jane, Soldier 0 – Anby, Hugo, Trigger, or Lucia—and receive their exclusive W-Engine weapon for free. Login rewards include 1,600 Polychromes and 20 total signal searches.
What This Means for You, Depending on Where You Play
Existing PC players (HoYoverse launcher, Steam, Epic)
If you’re already deep into New Eridu, the Microsoft Store release doesn’t force any changes. Your current install keeps working. But if you’ve been wanting to play on an Xbox console and continue on PC—or just prefer the Xbox app’s interface—you now have a seamless cross-save path. You can simply install the Microsoft Store version, sign into your HoYoverse account, and pick up exactly where you left off. Purchases and progress are fully shared.
Console-first players moving to PC
If you started on Xbox Series X|S and want to switch to PC occasionally, this is the build you’ve been waiting for. Your progress syncs without a hitch, and you keep all Xbox achievements and friend list integration. No second launcher required; the Xbox app handles updates and launching.
New players on Windows
This is the smoothest way to jump in if you already live in the Xbox ecosystem—Game Pass subscribers, or anyone who prefers a single app for games. The onboarding changes (faster leveling from 20 to 50, revamped tutorials) and the free limited S-Rank agent make the timing ideal. Just remember: even though you download via the Microsoft Store, your Zenless Zone Zero account is a HoYoverse account. Create one if you haven’t already.
Xbox Cloud Gaming users
Play Anywhere covers both Xbox consoles and the Microsoft Store on PC, but cloud saves are separate. If you stream via Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud), your progress also syncs since it’s tied to the same HoYoverse account. You can start a session on your phone via cloud, continue on PC, and then pick up on your living room console—all with one account.
How We Got Here: A Two-Year Road to Xbox on PC
Zenless Zone Zero launched in July 2024 on iOS, Android, and Windows (via the HoYoverse launcher and Epic Games Store), with a PlayStation 5 version arriving the same day. Steam followed later. For nearly a year, Xbox platforms were absent—a notable gap given HoYoverse’s strong presence on consoles with Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.
That changed in June 2025 when the game arrived on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming, closing the console gap. But the Microsoft Store on Windows remained missing, an odd omission for a title already running natively on Xbox hardware. Today’s announcement fills that void.
The July 29 date ties together several threads: Version 3.1’s narrative and feature update, the second-anniversary celebration, and the completion of the Xbox ecosystem rollout. HoYoverse has been methodical about platform parity—cross-play and cross-progression work across every version—so the PC Microsoft Store launch was always about ecosystem integration rather than a technical milestone.
What to Do Now and on July 29
You can’t pre-load yet, but a few steps will make launch day painless.
- Decide which platform account you’ll use as your primary. If you already have a HoYoverse account linked to your PSN or mobile progress, use that same account when signing into the Microsoft Store version. Never create a new one if you want to carry forward existing data.
- Link your HoYoverse account to Xbox if you haven’t already. Open the game on an Xbox console or the Xbox app on PC (when available), sign in with your Microsoft Account, then use the in-game menu to connect your HoYoverse account. The same email isn’t required; it’s a manual link.
- Plan your free S-Rank agent pick. The five choices cater to different playstyles:
- Jane – A Physical anomaly DPS with a straightforward, high-damage loop.
- Soldier 0 – Anby – A versatile Attack-Type Agent with strong AoE.
- Hugo – A Fire Attack Agent who rewards aggressive, skill-spamming play.
- Trigger – An Ether Support Agent that buffs the team while dealing chip damage.
- Lucia – An Electric attacker with a parry-heavy, counter-focused style.
If you’re new, Anby or Jane are forgiving and effective early. Veterans might pick to fill a missing element or support slot. - Check your Inter-Knot level. If you’re below 20, the accelerated 20–50 push will kick in after the update, so hold off on heavy grinding until July 29. If you’re above 50, the change doesn’t affect you.
- Prepare storage. The game’s size hasn’t been detailed for the Microsoft Store build, but expect around 50–60 GB, similar to other PC versions. A clean install on July 29 is the only option; there’s no upgrade path from the HoYoverse launcher’s files.
What’s Next
The Microsoft Store release rounds out Zenless Zone Zero’s platform support, but HoYoverse is far from done. Version 3.1 sets up the next story arc, and the anniversary rewards suggest the studio wants to pull in lapsed players. If you’ve been on the fence, July 29 is the cleanest entry point yet—especially for Xbox-minded Windows users.
Keep an eye on the Xbox app that morning. With Play Anywhere now live, future cloud saves and cross-device convenience will only deepen. And if this rollout template succeeds, don’t be surprised when other HoYoverse titles follow the same path.
